The Delta County Prosecuting Attorney is the chief law enforcement official in the county. The Prosecutor oversees the prosecutor’s office which is located in the Delta County Court House in Escanaba, Michigan. The Prosecuting Attorney is an elected official with a four-year term of office, as provided by the Michigan constitution. Elections occur at the time of the Presidential election, on the partisan ballot. The Prosecuting Attorney is independent of the Michigan Attorney General. The Prosecuting Attorney’s office is responsible for a wide array of legal functions in our county.

We are funded by County general fund dollars and employ 3 attorneys and 5 support staff. We review, process, and litigate adult and juvenile criminal misdemeanors and felonies. We represent the MI Department of Health and Human Services in child abuse/neglect cases in cases. We also handle a full load of criminal and civil appeals and are involved in several other civil legal matters.

Our attorneys and staff attend annual trainings and incorporate current technology into the practice of law. We are on the cutting edge of law enforcement and provide training for local police agencies. Our top priorities include victim services, addressing local substance abuse, and ongoing professional development.
